What is the Tavern
Updated November 16th, 2018
The Tavern is a feature that unlocks at level 28. The Tavern offers quests that can yield very useful rewards.
The quests can range from 1⭐ to 7⭐ where
- 1⭐ quests are more common but yield lesser rewards.
- 7⭐ quests are far less common but yield far greater rewards.
Quests can have up to 4 requirements that must be fulfilled before they can be started.
- A fixed amount of heroes must be used.
- At least one hero must be at or above a specific ⭐ .
- At least one hero must be of a specific role (
).
- At least one hero must be of a specific faction (
).
Note! A hero can only be used for one quest at a time. The hero is not lost and can still be used anywhere else.
After you have started a quest, the Speed Up functionality becomes available. This allows you to pay Gems in order to complete a quest immediately.
It is not advised that you do this unless: If you have started your quests too late and need to complete 2 quests to receive the 100x Gems from the Daily Quest rewards.

How does quests work
Quests can be in 1 of 4 different states. Some of which are overlapping.
- Unlocked
- Locked
- Started (counts as Locked as well)
- Completed (counts as Locked as well
Unlocked quests are automatically refreshed at the daily reset. They can also be manually refreshed by spending 10x Gems per Unlocked quest.
Locked, Started and Completed quests are prevented from being refreshed. Thus, allowing you to save specific quests while refreshing others.
The Tavern only offers up to a fixed limit of new quests at the daily reset. The maximum limit is solely dependant on your VIP level.
Every Unlocked and Locked quest counts as 1 unit of the fixed limit.
For instance; if you are VIP 3 the Tavern offers up to a fixed limit of 7 new quests. Let’s say you currently have
Then, at the daily reset, the Tavern will offer 3 new quests since the total number of Unlocked and Locked quests add up to 4 of 7. Note! The 9 completed quests do not count, thus, can be saved. |
Therefore, it is important to ensure that all quests are either Started or Completed before the daily reset or you will potentially lose some new quests.
How To Get More Quests
You can use Basic Scroll Quest and
Senior Scroll Quest to add extra quests. These scrolls do not increase the fixed limit of new quests and can be used even if the limit has been reached.
Basic Scroll Quest adds a random quest between 1⭐ and 4⭐ where as
Senior Scroll Quest adds a random quest between 4⭐ and 7⭐.
As stated earlier the maximum limit of new quests is directly dependent on your VIP level.
Note! It is not the purpose of this guide to discuss the usage of real life money. However, when looking at the cost benefit of the different VIP level it is apparent that VIP 3 is the most cost efficient when it comes to increasing the fixed limit of new quests in the Tavern.

How to Refresh Tavern Quests
The Tavern Event was recently changed into a monthly occurrence (instead of weekly) and the completion rewards were improved as well. In particular, the reward for completing 2x 7⭐ quests (10x and 50x
) is worth so much that strategizing in order to complete it has become more relevant.
However, we do not want to simply keep refreshing our quests until we get 7⭐ quests as that could end up being so costly that even the event rewards do not outweigh the costs. Thus, we try to find a strategy that can help us profit from the Tavern rewards and increase the chances of getting enough 7⭐ quests to complete the event.
With this information readily available a mathematical investigation was launched to determine 2 things.
- The most profitable refresh scenario in general.
- The most profitable refresh scenario on the path to forcing the required 7⭐ quests to complete the Tavern Event.
The mathematical results can be found here.
Several strategies are relatively similar in terms of profit, thus, you will be given the option to freely choose the specific strategy that fits your own situation. Not all possible scenarios have been calculated, but many have been.
Gem values have been given to all quest rewards by the author of the investigation, however, depending on your situation you may value items differently.
For instance, you may value Arena Tickets higher than
4⭐ Hero Shards since your storage has been depleted and you have not yet finished the current Militants Event.
Note! The actual profit is not seen in raw gems but in terms of gem value from the quest rewards. Thus, you might end up with fewer raw gems, but having gained when including the gem value of the rewards.
- The column “Profit (if Tavern Event is completed)” is the average gem value per quest reward.
- The column “Profit (if Tavern Event is NOT completed)” is the average gem value per quest reward and from completing the Tavern Event by forcing 2x 7⭐ quests.
To better understand the results and the relation between these two columns we further investigate each strategy’s probability of giving a single 7⭐ quest depending on the amount of quests.
The calculations assume that the player receives 7 new quests daily (VIP 3) for a total of 4 weeks (28 days).
This investigation shows the relation between the two “Profit…” columns. In layman terms it means that a more aggressive refresh strategy (marked in blue ), which actually makes you lose Gems, can end up making you gain gems as your chances of getting a 7⭐ quest to complete the Tavern Event increases.
However, since we do not want to spend unnecessary gems to get the required 7⭐ quest, perhaps we could use a combination of these strategies depending on how much time is left of the Tavern Event and how many 7* quests we currently have.
This way we can refresh the quests relatively relaxed if we are in a healthy situation and change into a more moderate or even aggressive strategy if need be.
Let’s assume the Tavern Event lasts for 4 weeks (28 days) just for the sake of simplicity.

Strategy 3 | Strategy 5 | Strategy 6 | Strategy 8 | |
Refresh 4⭐ | ![]() ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Refresh 5⭐ | – | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Profit (gems) | 35.73 | 34.22 | 17.22 | -1.99 |
Scenario 1: High profit, medium 7⭐ RNG
This scenario is for Average Joe.
- Week 1-4:
- Follow Strategy 3.
You should on average find 2.15x 7⭐ quests per 4 weeks by following Scenario 1. Strategy 3 is also the most profitable refresh strategy with a gem value of 7003.
Scenario 2: Medium profit, high 7⭐ RNG
This scenario is for Bad Luck Brian.
- Week 1-2:
- Follow Strategy 3.
- Week 3:
- If you have 1x 7⭐ quests, follow Strategy 3.
- If you have 0x 7⭐ quests, follow Strategy 6.
- Week 4:
- If you have not completed the event, follow Strategy 8.
Note! If you are VIP 0, consider following Strategy 5 instead of Strategy 3 to improve your chances of getting 2x 7⭐ quests.
You should on average find 3.6x 7⭐ quests per 4 weeks by following Scenario 2. This scenario has a profit of 4516 in gem value.
This means, compared to scenario 1, you will on average get 40% more 7⭐ quests, but 32% less gem value. Thus, it is a valid trade-off in order to try and force the 7⭐ quests required to complete the Tavern Event.
Minor Optimizations
At any point, if you have 2x 7⭐ quests (or if you have already completed the ongoing Tavern Event) you should follow Strategy 3 for optimal profit from the quests.
If you are VIP 0, consider following Strategy 5 instead of Strategy 3 to improve your chances of getting 2x 7⭐ quests.
It is debatable which of the two strategies is the best. It depends on other factors such as your personal gem valuation of the quest rewards.
By following Strategy 3 for 4 weeks you will on average
- Get 2.15x 7⭐ quests.
- Earn 7003
Gems.
If you instead decide to follow Strategy 5 for 4 weeks you will on average
- Get 2.6x 7⭐ quests.
- Earn 6707
Gems.
Comparing the two strategies we can see that
- Strategy 3 is the most profitable refresh strategy offering 4.4% more profit over the course of 4 weeks
Strategy 5 has the highest chance of getting a 7⭐ quests, finding 20% more 7⭐ quests over the course of 4 weeks.

Great Guide! I will try it out immediatly.
You are very welcome Susi!
Great job, but here is my opinion about the gem value:
HS: we can always buy 8HS = 1k gem, or 10 HS =1250, and we do not always buy that. I would go for 115.
Prophet branches: 200 PB = 600 gem, i guess 2.5 each is okay.
PO: i always buy 5PO= 2250, but not with 500, so 500> PO > 450. 475 in my opinion.
Anw , the ideal is amazing, will try to do some math to make my own way tho.
Thanks for the great share mate! Best!
Hello- just have some follow-up questions. Since these strategy tables don’t include the 1* – 3* quests, does this imply you continually re-roll the ones get each day until they reach 4* +? Is there also no danger of a 4* – 5* re-roll turning into a lower quality quest?
That’s true.
Personally I always do that till I have 1 quest left
you lock them once they reach 4* plus so they dont change
Right, but if it’s a 4-5* I need to re-roll, there’s the risk that it will actually turn into a 1-3*, right?
you dont ever reroll a 5, notice it just says 4* with pieces or arena cards, so only those and below get rerolled, but yes, a 4* could become something weaker.
instructions unclear, ended up with no 4star+ quest, all 1star quests… 😀 just kidding
but. lets say I will follow Scenario 1, I reroll every 1-3star quests, these 3 “types” of 4star and 1 “type” of 5star.
How many times do I reroll them? Untill I get what I need or like fixed 5 times and then I start whatever quest I end up with (even if its like a 9gem 1star)???
Love these guides, very helpful 🙂
Normally I would reroll and follow the strategy until I have only 1 quest left to reroll 😀
Hi,
i am weak at english, but i have question, please.
i have new day. i get one *, one **, one ***, one ****, one *****. i will follow strategy 5.
what i will do, step by step, please?
thanks you
Ok…so I’m not typically a dumb person but I read this article several times and I don’t understand…at all… I will always be f2p so I follow strategy 5… but I’ve no clue what that means…can I get a little hand holding on this?
Yes, don’t finish 6-7* unless you already are assured of having enough to finish the event. You never know if you will end up being a “bad luck Brian” as the guide puts it- that final quest may just never arrive in time.
Thanks for helping me answer the question 😛
